Switzerland Trip

Switzerland

This European River Cruise included visits to the Rhine & Mosel Rivers. Along these river routes, we stopped at cities, ports and picturesque, quaint villages. These neat little villages are located at the base of striking valley moutainsides covered with vineyards. We covered 6 countries in 3 wks: Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Luxembourg and Switzerland. We began this journey with 4 extra days in Brugge, Belgium and ended it with 4 extra Days in Lucerne, Switzerland.

A small multicultural, multilingual country in the heart of Europe. It shares common borders w/Germany, France, Italy, Austria and Liechstenstein.

LUCERNE: The charm is legendary. Its old town has medieval guildhalls, shops, mansions, museums, theatre, festivals & historic sights that have survived for centuries. It’s a city of culture. Stroll along the quays and enjoy magnificient landscapes. You cannot miss the Kapellbrucke (chapel) Bridge, a covered wooden footbridge that spans the River Reuss. Notice its gabled paintings of old battles and the adjacent quaint quarters with little streets ranging & changing from silence to abundant liveliness. And, the Musegg wall, a 2800-ft. remnant of the city walls. The famous Lion Monument honors the Swiss guards who died defending Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution.

BASEL: A contrast of modern technological (pharmaceutical & chemical) comparison and a network of medieval arch- itectural heritage. Check out the 12th century sandstone Munster….cathedral.

SWISS ALPS: Our visit was in rain, fog and mist. We took Jungfrau Railway thru the Eiger Mt. To Kleine Scheidegg at 7000 ft. We did not see the peaks of the Jungfrau, Monch, and Eiger due to bad weather. Stopped in Lauterbrunnen & Grindelwald.
