NASHVILLE

This is a great old Country-Western city and better known as Music City. Walk up and down the streets of Nashville, and music will always be playing somewhere in the background. Stop in the Wildhorse Saloon for some action-packed fun. Hear the hottest bands and learn to line dance. Food is quite good; try the famous fried pickles.

Tour the Ryman Auditorium (built as a church in 1892), now a National Historic Landmark, still offering the best in entertainment. It formerly served as the home of the Grand Ole Opry and has been completely renovated.

Visit the Parthenon in Centennial Park…has been called the Athens of the South. It is a most impressive scale reproduction of an ancient classic.

The Hermitage, Andrew Jackson's former home, is fifteen miles from downtown Nashville. Guides in period costume will welcome you. Tour on your own, or enjoy a wagon tour.

And, most important, go to the Grand Ole Opry for a very satisfying and great musical experience. You will not be disappointed! There is usually a full house, so you might want to get your tickets early.

If you have more time, visit historic FRANKLIN, a few miles south of Nashville. Enjoy the downtown district and Main Street boutiques, antiques and trendy shops.

MEMPHIS (POPULATION: 652,050)

Beale St….Birthplace of the Blues, with its brilliant neon signs; this is the heart of downtown Memphis. The music is on-going and nighttime never stops. Memphis must haves: slow cooked hand-pulled pork sandwich topped with coleslaw….and BBQ ribs, either Rendezvous style (massaged with dry spices and grilled) or ribs cooked in a smoky slow-cooked BBQ sauce.

Sun Studio…Where Elvis got his start; a small studio where Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, BB King, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison began their careers.

Peabody Place (Hotel)…Famous for its twice daily duck stroll thru the lobby. The ducks waddle into the elevator, come down to the lobby, go to the fountain and later return to their rooftop pen via elevator at 5PM.

Elvis Presley’s Graceland…This complex is made up of the 14-acre Presley estate, museums and an entertainment facility with shops and places to eat. Don’t miss his custom jets and his automobile museum…his 1955 Cadillac.

COLLIERVILLE (POPULATION: 43,965)

Passing thru this cute little town, we stopped to walk around, do a bit of shopping.
